Get paid to charge your EV in Canada—start with your charger.
Current provider programs can reward eligible home charging, but they do not fit the same household. Your charger, property type, ownership preference, connectivity and data choices narrow the field before any cents-per-kWh number does.
This is a dated, independent terms guide—not a provider ranking, income promise, government program or hands-on hardware test. Provider terms and individual eligibility always control.

| Decision factor | Grizzl-E Club | ChargeLab Rewards | SWTCH Home Charging Program |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starting hardware | Approved members use an eligible supplied or previously purchased Grizzl-E under the applicable Club ownership terms. [1] | You already own a qualifying OCPP 1.6-or-newer smart charger at a Canadian single-family residence. [4] | You acquire a participating charger through the free-charger or outright-purchase option. [6] |
| Base charging reward | The Level 1 baseline is 3¢/kWh. Under current terms, an eligible previously purchased charger converted into Club starts at Level 3, or 5¢/kWh. Later tier increases apply prospectively, reaching 10¢/kWh at 35,000 cumulative kWh. [1] | $0.10 CAD per qualifying residential kWh under the current terms. [4] | Free-charger option: $0.03 CAD/kWh for the first 1,500 kWh. The terms announce $0.11 CAD/kWh after that threshold for sessions beginning on or after September 1, 2026 at 12:00 a.m. Eastern Time; check the app and terms for the rate applying before that time. [6] |
| Payout | Minimum $10 withdrawal, up to once monthly through the member dashboard by EFT; email auto-deposit enrolment is required. [1] | Rewards are calculated and disbursed quarterly. The terms specify digital gift cards or another delivery method selected by ChargeLab, with a $5 CAD minimum. [4] | Once earnings reach $100 CAD, direct deposit is processed within 15 business days, subject to current app and firmware conditions. [6] |
| Hardware ownership | A supplied charger remains United Chargers property during membership. A converted previously purchased Grizzl-E follows separate transfer-back terms when membership ends. [1] | You continue to own your charger; ChargeLab operates the connected network and carbon-credit reward program. [4] | Current terms say title and ownership transfer to the customer on successful delivery. [6] |
| Deposit and fees | Deposit depends on enrolment type and model. The member pays shipping, installation and applicable electrical work. [1] | No supplied hardware or provider deposit. You bear the cost of compatible owner-supplied hardware and installation. [4] | The free-charger option requires a $300 CAD deposit, shipping and installation. Deposit refund follows the measured 1,500-kWh and software conditions. [6][7] |
| Connection and data | Continuous Wi-Fi and eligible connected-session data are required for rewards and program participation. [1] | The charger must stay connected to the ChargeLab app; the participant grants ChargeLab exclusive carbon-credit rights for enrolled residential charging. [4] | The charger must remain connected to the SWTCH Home App and current firmware for program operation, reward processing and deposit refund. [6] |
| Property and use | Eligible charging must occur in Canada and the Club charger must be the EV's active primary charger under current terms. [1] | Single-family residential charging only; fleet, commercial, multi-tenant and shared-use chargers are excluded. [4] | Canadian residential property and the legal right to install are required; one free-option charger is available per residential property. [6] |
| Changes and exit | United Chargers may change terms and terminate membership; supplied-hardware return and program-end provisions matter. [1] | ChargeLab may modify rates or rules and may terminate with at least 30 days' notice, with a final eligible accrued payout under current terms. [4] | The terms say rates are variable and are not guaranteed. Cancellation, return shipping, $75 restocking and deposit consequences depend on timing and program option. [6] |
Starting October 1, 2026, the provider says eligible members who own their Grizzl-E charger can earn an additional 5¢/kWh in Thanksgiving Bonus Points. An eligible Ultimate-level member could then reach up to 15¢/kWh in total. The announcement says those points convert to cash on October 1, 2027. [3]
Provider reward programs—not Government of Canada payments.
Canada's Clean Fuel Regulations establish a credit market. Federal guidance says charging network operators can create credits for residential EV charging and that revenues associated with residential and public charging credits must be reinvested in charging infrastructure, supporting electricity infrastructure or financial incentives for consumers. [8]
The providers set the consumer offers. Their applications, compatible hardware, rates, payout methods, data practices and termination rules are provider terms—not a government rebate, approval or guaranteed entitlement.
Eligible sessions must reach the provider's systems. Missed or disconnected sessions may not earn rewards, and current software or firmware can be required.
ChargeLab's terms require the exclusive right to claim carbon credits from enrolled residential charging. Other providers also assign environmental or incentive rights under their own terms.
Do not enrol the same charger in conflicting carbon-credit programs. Confirm how to leave one program before connecting the charger to another.

This guide compared current first-party legal terms and live provider pages on August 20, 2026. We did not apply to these programs, test the hardware, verify an individual's compatibility or calculate a universal winner. Legal terms take priority over promotional pages, and rates, hardware, eligibility, inventory and payout methods can change.
Material relationship: Peter Mucha is a Grizzl-E Club member. If a visitor voluntarily requests an invitation through this independent site, is approved, activates a qualifying referred charger and remains eligible, Peter may receive CAD $0.01 per eligible referred kWh under current terms. Submitting the EV Rewards Canada form requests one official Grizzl-E invitation. It is not enrolment, approval, a government benefit, a charger order or a promise of payment.
Three answers before you connect a charger.
Can Canadians get paid for charging an EV at home?
Some provider programs reward eligible connected residential charging. Hardware, property, data, rates, payout and exit requirements differ.
Which program pays the most?
A single rate is not an apples-to-apples ranking. Compare starting hardware, ownership, deposit, installation, eligibility, payout method, threshold, future effective dates and rate-change rights.
Can one charger join several reward programs?
Do not enrol the same charger in conflicting programs. Read each provider's current credit-rights and exit terms before connecting another operator.
